Beliefs of Grace Fishers Church

What We Believe

Grace Fishers is a non-denominational Christian church focused on making disciples of Jesus and launching them into the mission of God. Our beliefs guide us in that purpose and inform how we live our lives. We focus on the core historical tenets of the Christian faith (1 Corinthians 15:3).

What we believe at Grace Fishers

God

We believe there is only one true God who is eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, just, and loving. We believe that God purposefully created the world and is personally engaged in the lives of human beings.

Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 46:9–10, 1 John 4:8

Jesus

We believe God entered the world in human form in the person of Jesus Christ; Jesus Christ is both fully human and completely God. Jesus alone reconciled us with God, revealed God’s character and inaugurated God’s Kingdom.

John 1:1,14, Philippians 2:6–8, Colossians 1:15–20

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is God’s indwelling presence: the source of power, guidance, and conviction in the life of a follower of Christ.

John 16:7-15, Acts 1:8, Romans 8:11, Ephesians 1:13-14

The Trinity

We believe there is one triune God who exists eternally as three distinct  Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Each member of the Trinity is fully God, co-equals who share one divine nature.

Matthew 3:16-17, John 14:16-17, 2 Corinthians 13:14

The Church

We believe the Church is the universal community of all Christ-followers. The Church finds its best expression in unique, local communities of Christ-followers united for the purpose of evidencing the values of the Kingdom of God in the world.

Matthew 16:18, Acts 2:42–47, Ephesians 4:4–6

Kingdom of God

We believe God’s kingdom is the sum of His purposes and hopes for this world. The Kingdom is realized as Christ’s disciples commit themselves to His mission. We anticipate a future time when Jesus will return to complete the mission of God on earth.

Matthew 6:10, Mark 1:14–15, Revelation 21:1–5

The Bible

We believe the Bible was written by human authors under the supernatural inspiration of God and is our authority for all matters of faith and practice.

2 Timothy 3:16–17, Hebrews 4:12, 2 Peter 1:20–21

You

We believe every person is uniquely created in the image of God but, through sinful disobedience, is broken and has alienated themselves from God, others, and the creation. The result is that every person is in need of spiritual healing and reconciliation.

Genesis 1:26–27, Romans 8:22-24, Ephesians 4:23-24

Salvation

We believe that through faith in Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection our sinful disobedience is forgiven and that through repentance and surrender to God we are reconciled to Him for this life and eternity.

John 3:16, Romans 5:8-11, Romans 10:9–10, Ephesians 2:8–9

Baptism

We believe baptism is an act of obedience to Jesus for those who have placed their faith in Him. Through baptism by immersion, believers publicly identify with Jesus in His death, burial, and resurrection –declaring that their old life is gone and they have been raised to new life in Him.

Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:38, Romans 6:3–4

Communion

We believe communion was given by Jesus to His followers to remember our unity with Him and one another. Through the bread and the cup, we reenact His body given and blood poured out on the cross for us, receive spiritual conviction and encouragement by the Holy Spirit, and anticipate the day we will celebrate with Him forever.

Luke 22:19-20, 1 Corinthians 10:16–17, 11:23–26
