Covenant

There's a kind of good idea that still needs a gut check. David wanted to build God something better — a real house instead of a tent. It seemed obvious, even generous. He'd lived in cedar while God's presence sat in a tent for years. Fixing that felt less like ambition and more like honor.

The answer he got back wasn't the one he expected. God had a different plan — one that had nothing to do with what David could build, and everything to do with what David couldn't. Sometimes the plans we're proudest of aren't the ones we're supposed to build. And sometimes being told "not yet" is its own kind of grace.
