Facing Mortality

By
Nathanael Sommers

We all know it—life is short. No matter how much we chase meaning, purpose, or pleasure, the clock keeps ticking. And eventually, time runs out. The weight of that reality can leave us searching for something deeper—yet still feeling like something’s missing, like we’re just walking in circles.

Ecclesiastes doesn’t shy away from that tension. It names the ache. It explores what it’s like to live with the awareness of our mortality and the longing for light in a world that often feels dark.

What are we supposed to do with that tension? How do we make sense of the time we’ve been given when we already know how the story ends?
