Everyone knows what it's like to want to disappear after screwing up. It's not a new thing. The first people ever created did it too. Right after their first bad choice, they hid.
Most of us still do some version of that. David and Saul both failed badly. Only one of them turned back toward God instead of away. That's really the whole story. It was never about the sin itself. It was about what came next.
